One shot, a narrow pitch and someone in the way
Soccer Dash is a 3D football shooting game from Mirra Games. Each level is a long, narrow pitch with walls on both sides, the goal at the far end, and players standing between your ball and the net. You get the ball at your end and have to aim one kick past them.
Controls
Hold the left mouse button (or your finger) on the screen, drag to aim, and let go to kick. The first level shows a hand and the words Hold to play. As you drag, the view swings round with your aim, so you can see the line the ball will take before you release.
Two modes
Play is a grid of levels that unlock one at a time: only level 1 is open at the start, and the rest stay locked until you clear the one before. When a shot does not go in, the level starts again and you take another kick.
Tournament is a knockout competition. You pick a country, then go into a 16-team bracket and have to win four matches in a row to take the trophy. Our United States side drew the Netherlands in the first round.
Shop
Coins buy new balls and new players. There are six balls, from the standard football to a basketball and a volleyball, costing 15, 55, 115, 155 and 195 coins after the free one, and four players, costing 55, 115 and 155 coins after the starting one. They change the look, not the rules.
The menu also has a sound switch and a language switch between English and Russian; the game opens in Russian on some browsers, so tap the US flag if the buttons are not in English.
Tips
Drag slowly. The game reads a held drag, not a flick. When we swiped quickly the kick did not register at all; holding for a moment and then dragging worked every time.
Use the swing of the view. Because the camera turns with your aim, stop dragging when the goal is lined up on the side away from the keeper, then release.
Keep the cheap ball until you have choices. Every item is cosmetic, so there is no reason to spend coins early.
